2 Days in Gyeongju: The Perfect Weekend Itinerary from Busan (Cafés, Golf & Local Food)

If you’re looking for an easy weekend getaway from Busan, Gyeongju is one of the best destinations in South Korea.
Located just about an hour away by car, Gyeongju offers a perfect mix of traditional Korean culture, peaceful cafés, local food, and beautiful nature.
Instead of rushing through famous tourist attractions, my family and I decided to enjoy a slower trip. We spent two days relaxing at a traditional hanok café, enjoying a Korean BBQ dinner, playing golf, tasting local food, and bringing home Gyeongju’s famous bread.
Here’s the exact itinerary we followed.

Day 1 – A Peaceful Start at a Traditional Hanok Café

After lunch in Busan, we drove to Gyeongju, which took about one hour.
Our first stop was Nokyeong Bocharapa, a beautiful traditional Korean hanok café.
Instead of starting with crowded tourist attractions, we wanted to begin the trip somewhere quiet.
It turned out to be one of the highlights of our visit.
The café is much larger than we expected, with traditional Korean architecture surrounding a peaceful courtyard.
Inside, the high wooden ceilings and spacious seating created a calm atmosphere that made us slow down and simply enjoy the afternoon.
One of my favorite spots was the traditional wooden platform where visitors could sit—or even lie down—and relax.
We ended up staying for almost two hours without realizing how quickly time had passed.
The café also serves traditional Korean teas, coffee, rice cakes, and local desserts, making it a wonderful place to experience Korean café culture beyond the usual coffee chains.
A Cozy BBQ Dinner

After checking into our accommodation, we spent the evening having a Korean BBQ together.
Sometimes the best travel memories aren’t about sightseeing—they’re simply about sharing a good meal with family.
Since we had an early golf tee time the next morning, we called it a night and rested early.
Day 2 – Golf with Beautiful Mountain Views

The second day began with a morning round at Hill Sky Country Club.
The course was well maintained, and the mountain scenery made the experience even more enjoyable.
If you enjoy golf while traveling, Hill Sky CC is definitely worth considering during a trip to Gyeongju.
I’ll be sharing a full review of the golf course in a separate post.
Traditional Korean Lunch

After finishing our round, we stopped at Jeongrok Ssambap for lunch.
The restaurant serves fresh vegetables, Korean side dishes, soybean stew, and spicy pork, making it a satisfying meal after a morning of golf.
It was also a great place for families looking to enjoy authentic Korean food.
Don’t Leave Gyeongju Without Hwangnam Bread

Before driving back to Busan, we made one final stop at Hwangnam Bread Main Store.
Hwangnam Bread is one of Gyeongju’s most famous local specialties and a popular souvenir for both Korean and international visitors.
Watching the bread being made inside the bakery was surprisingly fun, and the freshly baked pastries tasted even better than expected.
The sweet red bean filling wasn’t overly sugary, making it perfect with coffee or tea.
If you’re visiting Gyeongju, I highly recommend taking a box home as a souvenir.
Final Thoughts
This wasn’t a trip filled with famous landmarks or packed sightseeing schedules.
Instead, it was about slowing down, enjoying good food, relaxing in beautiful places, and spending quality time with family.
If you’re planning 2 days in Gyeongju, this itinerary offers a perfect balance of cafés, local food, golf, and traditional Korean experiences.
Whether you’re visiting from Busan or exploring South Korea for the first time, Gyeongju is a destination that’s well worth adding to your travel list.
